Yo,
Coolness...did you notice any difference? Mostly any benefit would be from smoother air flow since the accordian plastic is gone, right?
Interesting...

Actually there was an increase in response from the mod, I wouldn't say I gain any horsepower from it. I'm going to be adding a headlight vent and going to add a cold air barrier to it and hopefully it will help out alittle more, will post the pics when I get to that point, still debating on how I'm going to construct the barrier behind the filter

I would have to get back to you with a part number later this afternoon but it's a 3" dia. with a 180 degree bend, basicly you'll cut two bend sections out of the pipe and then use silicon connectors to attach them together. the tricky part is you have to relocate the two hose outlets on the underside of the factory hosing, wasn't hard but and I have some good pictures of where I located them but I'm a nod at this so if I can figure out how to post another pic I can show you the details

I'm glad someone has pictures of this. I plan on doing the same thing sometime soon....
except 3½" piping... and no AFM... and it'll go into the fender... and I only need 1 of the hose outlets... and, well... you get the point.
It looks really good though. I'd reccomend you put some kind of wrap or something around the pipe though. You've got metal really close to the exhaust manifold... could be worth the $$ to insulate it.

actually been thinking about that, thought of spraying the pipes with ceramic basic paint to help with the heat and making a barrier behind to filter to made some sort of cold air setup with a headlight vent. thought about doing a fend mount but would have to relocate the windshield washer tank and not sure it would be worth the effort

Is there a point of diminishing returns for the size of the piping? Would you also have to port the intake manifold to take advantage of larger piping?

Is the accordian plastic that bad? Thats what I want to do, time restraints keep me from doing a custom.
I am about to put an intake on as soon as I decide who makes the best one. Maybe I'll try to get rid of the plastic when I have more time.
btw, it looks real good man.

Clean setup!
I just got done with mine as well, although I've not completed my T2 conversion yet, but I posted a small thread earlier tonight on another forum.
There's some more pics and such on my website.
