Custom Exhaust or catback? Differences?

Basically Corksport has told me that they won't have any of their catbacks in stock until June 1st and the kit is $320 bucks (shipped).

So now I'm thinking about just canceling the order and ordering one of their mufflers and taking it to an exhaust shop and having them bend me a 2.5" pipe from my race pipe to the muffler spot.

The thing is though, will I lose power or sound quality with a custom job, compared to spending the extra $200 for and 3 weeks for the entire catback?

As long as the custom one is mandrel bent, there's no suggnificant difference in the 2 on an N/A

thats not true, you cant tell the difference between mandrel and crimp unless your a hardcore racer and the car is fully race prep'd... then and only then will it even matter.

I assume that you have evidence to back that up?

I'm sure there would be a significant difference between a catback exhaust made up of various 2½" & 3" mandrel-bent piping and a 2½" notch-bent piping; on a dyno if nowhere else.

You know, I just want to know how much of a difference will be made.. Like If I'll gain 5 - 10 hp with a corksport, or gain 5 - 7 with a custom made catback...

if you want evidence go get it! i have nothing to show you, i have heard it by word of mouth from many experienced muffler shops and racers...

like i said, "you cant tell the difference" meaning MAYBE you MIGHT see a slight change on a dyno but ONLY on a dyno and not while driving the car, and remember this is all on a STREETABLE car... a fully race prep'd car on the other hand, you will see/feel the difference much more.

Brian S : its really up to you and your preferences... if you want a full catback then go for that, if you want to do something custom on the other hand then your gonna need to goto a muffler shop. i think you will see similar gains with either one, if your after power then i would definitely suggest you get a better catback than the CS one.
