Custom Cup Holder!

Updates!
Hey guys! Massive update.
I never got around to posting photos or an update due to school finals and projects.
Now onto winter break I am moving forward with this. I have gotten my latest sample in and in all honesty its 95% ready. I will actually be cleaning this one up and selling it later on for a discount, or possibly giving it away VIA sending me photos of your FC and I will give it to the one I decide is the cleanest. Either way, I think this one will find a great home.
Here are some photos. Just as some notes, the thickness for the clips needs to be increased slightly, the height and width of the panel will be increased to fit the hole better and the fog/security hole will need to be a hair bigger and less thick. (Meaning another "final" prototype is on the way)
This panel DOES hold in nice and tight, especially with the foam strips. To release this panel is even better, no screw driver or clip tool needed (May differ from final model due to improvement of the clips). I was able to flip the center console this way and that with no release. To remove it, I just pressed opposing sides of the cup holder with my thumbs outward and lifted up. NICE AND EASY
I used a foam strip that is used on AC units, very inexpensive. It can only be seen in 1 seam if you are looking from directly above and is honestly something I will recommend even on the final product to assist with long term vibration prevention. I love how it came out and it holds cans, my Keurig mug, and enough of a DD cup to hold it while you drive without it ending up in your lap.
The final model (the one for sale to the masses) will NOT require the foam and will not move around or vibrate. This is why extensive time and persistence is going into perfecting this panel. Thanks to all whom are interested!
Enjoy. I will be working rigorously the next few days on this in my free time to push out a perfected (yes that is what is taking so long) part for all of your pleasure!

I hope so, school took over and put me weeks behind. The changes left are minor. Biggest issue is each sample takes minimum of 2 weeks to get to my door. But, I will be ordering my next sample (hopefully the last) by the end of the week. So I should be able to sell them by mid-late January

I was an installer form 6 years (just very recently unemployed because my manager was a schizophrenic bitch) and clip are my specialty. With that said, here is my suggestion...
Plastic clips tend to break very easily, especially ones like yours that have the little round retainer at the bottom. Why not design the panel to take readily and easily available toyota panel clips. All you would need to change is the clip retainer and the buyer would just need to get some easily available toyota clips.

Another great idea. I will look into sizing, but for now this design will be changed as needed and my next prototype will be with these.
I will say, they are very thick and durable compared to the flimsy and super thin OEM clips. I designed it with myself in mind (I tend to take my car apart for no goddamn reason just to put it back together lol)

This is how I fixed my shifter cover. Left over toyota clips and done. Even if the clip retaining hole is bigger, they provide enough pressure to get ahold of the hole. Nice thing about it is, no more busted plastic!

For anyone watching this thread, I will be painting the current model with some "Trim Black" paint and epoxying in a fog switch. The hole was a hair smaller than needed, upon trimming the fog switch holds but does not clip in, I do not want to sell it if its finiky so I will sell it with the fog switch epoxied in place and the mirror switch ready to be used. I will also be including a couple of foam pieces to hold the panel in place. As I mentioned this was my previous method that worked terrific. If there is anyone interested, keep an eye on the 2nd Gen for sale for this unique part that there will be ONLY 1 of until the perfected one comes out. Sort of a "pre-release" be the only one on your block with one!
