Talking Cusco side pillar bars and lower arm bar

Straight from Jahpan!!! Took over 3 months for these and my lower arm bar to arrive.

Got these cusco pillar side bars in and had some issues with the install. Looked at the first page of the instructions

Anyways **** THAT!

The problem is that US s5 models had the mousebelts (everywhere else in the world had manual) and the bars do not fit correctly as you can see here

In the instructions all you have to do is remove the bolt that holds the seatbelt in the pillar and place this under and rebolt. The rail for the mousebelts prevents that from happening.

Here is a mock up picture to show how it looks installed.

Pic of the lower arm bar. I havent installed it yet since I was too lazy to get under the car.

So anyways does anybody know the pitch and thread of the bolts for the seatbelts? Does anybody know the length for the bolt for the manual belts?

I'll be using a spacer and will probably need to find a bolt long enough that will fit so I can bolt these down.

I may even convert to manual belts if anybody has them for sale and the price is right

What is the specific function of the pillar side bar item? And how much did that set you back?

They are supposed to stiffen the door pillars and stop chassis flex. Forgot what I paid it was 3 months ago but they have them available online for $230. Not as bad as you thought huh? They came with both sides btw.

Where'd you hear about those (side pillar bars) and where'd you order them from? Did you order them straight from Cusco by phone?

Actually I saw them on www.raretrick.com but I had them special ordered from cusco through a distributor. As far as I know I'm the only person with these in the US other than someone else who I also ordered a set for.

I will measure mine either at lunch (at work..... working...) or tonight after work. If no one else gets to it before hand. You just need the length of the manual bolt? I wouldn't know how to figure out the pitch thread. I can snap some pictures if you want.

Just the length is fine. Thanks Brian. Just want to see if the manual bolt length is longer than my mousebelt bolts. If it is it'll save me the trouble of tracking down a bolt twice as long as the ones I have.

Just make sure to let us know if you notice any improvements with the pillar side bars. I might be looking for some, it looks like it would match well with my blue on blue action. Or I could get crazy and make my own from you're picture.

Those are some nice pieces, but personally I wouldn't keep the "cusco blue" color, black for me.

They're MaD JdM TyTe Yo! haha

I think I have all the cusco bars available except for the swaybars and roll cage. I even got the cusco rear pillowball mounts. I'm actually looking into getting the zero 2 coilovers as well down the road.

What's wrong with the cusco blue? Too flashy? If that's the issue these cannot even really be seen unless you have the door open.

Overnight parts from jah-pan!!

Those bars look pimp. I like the Cusco blue. It could be worse, like those PINK Amemiya strut bars.

BTW, out of curiosity, where do they mount exactly on the front (pillar bars)?

They mount at the bolt for the seatbelt, against the doorsill at the back of the seat, the front bracket of the seat bracket, and in the footwell on a floor pan.

I'll snap some pix of the brackets they provide when I get home. Pretty damn beefy. The bars themselves are extremely light. Seems like the brackets are heavier haha.

It made a noticeable difference. I bought one of these from Stan and installed it. It also got rid of a little creak I was having leaving the bump in my driveway in the morning.

Maybe its only hiding that problem, but the steering feels a little bit more tight as well. Just the way it should be. Highly recommended for those who have access to it.

Thanks again Stan!

Looks good.
I have one of those lower arm bars new that I am not going to use. Was for my 88 ae. It is for sale btw.
I opted for this one from auto exe for the 10 ae (includes the rear also)

Verts come with a heavy duty one from the factory

Those door bars look nice also.
I wasn't aware of those.
I opted to have a shop weld in chrome moly door bars to the floor and middle of the door sill from my existing kirk roll hoop, coincidentally a very similiar layout to the Cusco setup.
That setup you have would have saved me some time and money.
