i took some from an old ford taurus i found in a junk yard. they fit right in if you have an aftermarket cd player. is slides out and has a lil metal rod that swings down to support the bottom. they fet in the way of your hand while shifting ut all you have to do is pushit from the back and not wrap your hand around it. they hold drinks very snugly, just not huge cups. and the cup hits buttons on the cd player. but overall a good investment.

Every time i get in the gf's 6 i marvel at her in-door cupholders. I was wondering if it would be possible to make or modify some sort of cupholder that would slide in the map holder and then hang over the edge. I think of it was mounted far enough back it would be fine to drive stick with it in. I dunno, food for thought.

They're not too bad. The side bars are at a good angle to use as an armrest....only uncofortable if it's been in the sun for a bit.

I screwed this "Canadian Tire" accessory into the glove box tray with a single center screw ..... it holds a small to large coffee cup though any corner or bump and fit in the space neatly with the glove closed ...... this holds my girlfriends coffee ..... she's MY cupholder

or definitely a short shift kit, cause there is no way a stock throw doesn't hit the holder...

after that being said, that din unit is so good, i'll invest in one if i ever shorten my throws.

nope..no short throw, its a stock S5 shifter with a Miata ****.

In the middle picture the shifter is in 3rd and you can see it clears just fine.

there is about a finger's thickness between the shifter and the drink tray all the way out. Of course seldom is there a need for the tray all the way out... not unless you have a extra large drink

What I used to use was one of those plastic cheap single cupholders that's made to hang over a door panel or window. I don't have a picture, but it basically looks like a cup itself, with a handle on it that's open on the bottom. What I would do is open the glove box slightly, then hang the cup over it, then close the glove box. It holds really tight, is at arm's length...works perfect. Best part, you can find them at Walmart or auto stores for about two bucks.

I picked this one up off a FC at a junk yard here in Japan.
I dont think it is a Japanese Mazda only item. But it is definately going in my car soon.
it is not the same as that ford unit but the same idea.

depends on your radio set up. I use the Mazda factory radio brackets for mounting my radio, and it is a tight fit there.

Check ebay, I found cup holders that fit into a standard DN slot. Of course, you will probably need a smaller aftermarket stereo to free up a rail. Took lots of time to scroll through 30 pages of ebay crap, but what else am I going to do? Statics homework?

Is that a new center console surround? If so, I've been wondering on their quality. I need a new one and was thinking of buying a new one from Mazda/Mazdatrix/etc., but I don't want to buy one if it's brittle like the old one.
