Cruise control removal?

So I drove my 7 back to the shop to get it ready for some more invasive work. But before that I need to figure out my funky wavering idle. At first I thought it was the ECU sending a screwed up map due to the O2 sensor not seeing air from the AIR pump anymore. But I disconnected the O2 Sensor for a drive and nothing changed. I was going through my parts bin and remembered I removed the cruise control unit. I remember at some point seeing a thread where someone asked about it, and someone mentioned having to wire up one of the arms on the throttle body. I did not. Could this be causing a screwed up idle? Does anyone know what im talking about? Or do you just take the cable off, toss the cruise control, and call it good?

If there is no cable, your throttle will not be affected by cruise control no matter what you do. These cruise control systems maintain speed by puppeting the throttle body. The speed input comes from the reed switch in your speedometer. It has nothing to do with the ecu either.

Your comment about "arms" on the TB make me think you're referring to the mechanical OMP rod on the S4, which can stick, resulting in a high idle. You might know this, but this must be retained unless you premix.

I was more using "Arms" as a vague catch-all term for all the linkages on the throttle body. OMP still connected, works good.

I figured as much, I just remembered one guy on a small thread telling another guy he had to wire up one of the loose linkages on the TB if he took the cruise control off.
