Cruise Control not working right!!

My cruise control is not working correctly...I got all the parts off a junk yard car and everything is in working order except that the car will only cruise between 25 and 30...if I try to set it higher it just slows to 30 and stays there....The "SET" button won't make the car accelerate...I am stumped ...I looked at the FSM and all it tells me is to use some damn tester that only MAZDA has... Can anyone help me?????

My car is a red early '87 base model N/A auto....The cruise came off of a blue late 88 GXL auto!!!

One oof the famous problems plauging these great cars. It has to be an electrical connection somewhere. Double check all the connections and make sure all of them are getting power.
