Crossmember replacement

Crossmember replacement
so i finally got to change the exhaust on my 91 vert.
unknown header to apexis mufflers, i was not able to fit the crossmember back on due that it hits the lower header pipe.
what are my options?
i have not tried to hammer the crossmember to see if notching it would give the pipe enough clearance,
other than that, what are other known alternatives??
thanks!

In a modern unibody car the roof provides a tremendous amount of structural integrity. When you read a car review about a convertible you'll often see a reference to "cowl shake". When you cut the roof off of a coupe to make a convertible, it weakens the structure and the car will become flacid and floppy and it is really obvious when the cowl shakes from the driver's position.
So to compensate for the strength lost by cutting off the roof the manufacturer will reinforce the chassis. The cross member is an example; the coupes dont have it. In addition, the RX7 verts have a bunch of extra structure behind the seats. That's why verts weigh more than coupes even those cloth weighs less than steel.
Hope that helps. Now get under the car with a hammer and a pair of channel locks and get the damn thing back in there!
