Cross country drive
What kind of precautions should I take before I make my 1730 mile drive back to Iowa? Any cooling suggestions or whatever you guys can think of would be great. I'll be driving aprox 75 the whole way where possible.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
well if this is the same car that you were posting on having blown EGI and meter fuses for no reason, and key not shutting off the car, and intermitent gauges I would take a rental until you get your car figured out

IF you have all those little bugs fixed, a few things you should take with you..
Full tune up, especially spark plugs, oil and coolant. I wouldn't worry much about the diff and tranny for constant highway speeds. But oil YES.
-Premixed coolant (or coolant and water) maybe a total of 3-4 gallons, just in case..
-A couple quarts of oil
-Stop every 400-500 miles and check the oil and coolant levels
Can't think of much else. Make sure tires, battery, alt, etc. are in good, working shape...

Icemark, Innovation of course I plan to get the little bugs fixed before I go. A rental car is out of the question, I'm moving back to Iowa for good.
Thanks adrock3217, I actually never even thought about taking coolant/water mix with me. I appreciate that.

And make sure you have a good spare tire, lugnut socket and jack. Everything else seemed to be covered. 1730 miles isn't to bad.
Just do a full tune up, check all the hoses.. If you can't remember the last time you changed your hoses.. just change them all.. will only cost about 50$ for all the coolant/heater hoses. Inpect the alt belt.. if it looks worn change it.. hell change it just for the hell of it. Only 8$ and take the current one on as a spare.
And most important, take plenty of water and snacks for youself.
