Great Im not the only one with this problem.
I put the 4pot sytstem on my 86. No abs. Its usually on the drivers side. I really have to push on the pedal. Did you guys notice that the pedal itsnt as smooth as it should be. I got rid of the problem by taking the bolts off the caliper to the hub. But the car will not stop with out them. so it is either an alighment problem with the disc or..... I dont know...
Crap.
Back up on the jack for that thing.

Yeah, the sound is bloody annoying to say the least. It has got to be a friction point that is causing the problems. Maybe, you can use the mechanics stephascope (sp) and try to pinpoint the origin of the creaking. Just take a screwdriver and place it on where you think the noise is coming from. Then put your ear against the handle portion of the screwdriver. Then have somebody press the brake pedal.

When I destroyed the front calipers on my 88 GTU at the Hyperfest at Charlotte last year, I thought I was going to end up spending a fortune for new calipers, but my mechanic found a source for a "beefier" caliper. I knew of no such part, but he got them in. They're definitely 4-pot, aluminum, and have the Mazda logo embossed on them, and the sweet part is he got them for well under $100 each. I have no idea what the deal is with them, they definitely look a little "larger" in terms of more metal, a friend of mine who knows a Mazda parts guy said that he thinks they may have come off one of the larger trucks they sell in Japan. Dunno. All I know is the brakes still work very well and feel good, so it doesn't matter to me where they came from!

OK I think I found the problem..
I think the pistons are binding in the caliper. I took the caliper off the car, still connected to the hydraulic system. ANd took the rotors and stuck them in. The craking really quited down, but when I move the rotors back and fourth the creaking changed. So something isnt aligned right. My wheel bearings are good. Runout is ok. ONe thing left. the caliper. Makes sense though, right.

Back from the DEAD!
Turns out the creaking caliper was solved by rebuilding the brake calipers.
Easy enough
Now all is quite. Until my Hawk HPs pads start to squeel like a pig
