Crap .. o-rings expand?

Crap .. o-rings expand?

I was putting my engine back together and got half done .. took a break before putting the rear together. When I came back home the outer water seal o-ring had EXPANDED!

What gives? Any fixes

Are you reusing it? If so, then you're going to have to get a new one, if it's new did you happen to get it close to any oil/anything of the sort?

Its new. Yea the vasoline to hold it in place :P

I hope my other O-rings didnt expand and come out of their slot.. crap.

At least I have good teflon inner rings that dont expand on me :O

Strange, if they are new the vaseline shouldn't make them expand that quickly unless you left them like that for a long time. I guess you could try drying it off and setting it in the sun, but I doubt it will work, probably going go to have to get a new one.

Well, if you already have them in place and the housings ontop of them, then there's nowhere for them to expand to, so they should be just fine. That damn black seal is always a pain for expanding. Anyway, if your others are in place and the housings ontop of them, you should have no problems at all.

Heh this sounds about how my project is going :/ I ordered lower intake gaskets and o-rings today....should be here wednesday or so....
