Well you have a cat and airpump so you are half way there, just go buy some 90% isopropyl alcohol from walmart or something. Put 2 bottles (or 3 to play it safe) in half a tank of gas.

I just passed 20 minutes ago using acohol

You have a J-Spec, they came with different emmisions. I would go with the method mentioned above.

Question ..How long has the Cat been on this vehicle?..NO,the Alcohol will not hurt the Engine since you are only "supposed to" run the Vehicle for the test only..then you fill the Tank up to dillute the Mixture.I am wondering also How Long the car was Run prior to testing?(good road run at least twenty minutes Spirited Highway Driving)..With a Good Cat,tuned engine..and the Air pump outlet hose hooked to the split air(that goes to the cat)..you should Pass.(no idea about J spec difference though..sorry)

haha probably yes. I hear it dumps in more fuel if it's disconnected, more fuel = richer burn, richer burn = more toxic gases emitted = fail emissions

yo just wanted to say thanks for that alcohol info...i've heard about it...but been looking around forever to see how much exactly and how much gas in tank, but now i know...does it take long to connect the air pump directly to cat?? if its not too complex of a mission im probabaly bout to do that too to upper my chances of passing this time

Uh, try not being such a smartass. This WILL destroy the cat in VERY SHORT NOTICE.

Edit: And when driving on alcohol, drive very, very easily. No redlining at all, no spirited driving..don't push the car at all. This mixture leans out the car a LOT. It takes 3x the alcohol to equal gasoline's burn, so you will be 3x leaner.

And WOOOO! POST 1,000!

well then answer his question "how could it?" because I don't see how it would either. Sounds like you're just saying it because you can or because someone told YOU without telling you why either. I think it's perfectly safe.

Hey if you looked in the FAQ for FC sticky thread you would have seen:

which says for High HC and High CO, your air pump is not pumping enough into the cat and your mixture may be off (what are you using for a air filter??? Should be clean and like new). Of course your disconnected O2 could have also been the reason for running rich.

Nothing to do with the cat that several people suggested.

Next time read the FAQ for FC first.

Heres what I'm doing. As they are suspending my licence. Im transfering the title to a cheap *** apartment in the middle of nowhere where they dont even care about testing (illinois). Once I get the new title im routing mail to a PO box and i'll be done with it. That alwase works well in a real pinch.

Sorry Icemark, I searched it after several people suggested... i am running a K&N filter to the air pump... ill check for leaks or loose clamps. Ill attempt the smog again after i make sure everything is working fine. Ill also try to attempt the direct air route to the cat

Thanks
