cranking but no start! HELP!

cranking but no start! HELP!

its an 88 GTU, the sellers story was that it ran out of gas and when he put gas in it and try to restart it, it wouldnt start. I thought it would be the fuel pump, but he said its pumping fuel.then i look at the injectors, can a clogged or a fugged up injector not allow the car to start?then i look at ignition, he said theres a spark, ive cleaned the spark plug and the wires. He said that by spraying starter fluid into the throttle body it starts right up, but when its all burned up it dies back again. I thought it would be vaccum leaks, but i guess not. my friend said check timing, would this affect the car from starting? please HELP guys.

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem to me, the injectors sound like they're not firing if its getting fuel into the system but do a check over of everything.

vapor lock? how and where do i access that to fix it? an explanation would help. pics would be a plus. thnx

Ya it sounds like your fuel injectors aren't spaying. Are your plugs getting wet at all? Thats the easy way to check. You can also remove the plugs, then start her up, and look for any gas vapor. Then you know your getting gas at least. Find out if your getting gas, and spark.
