getting ready to do motor swap.. q's?
k well i think tearing the motor down shouldnt be to hard.. im simply replacing my blown s4 with another s4. my plan is to remove the motor by itself. i work at a shop so i should have access to just about anything. ive already tracked down a clutch centering tool and some other goodies.
q1: do i really need a ring gear brake to remove the clutch? i vaguely recall some other tricks being used for this
q2: when reinstalling the motor.. what precautions do i need to as kevin landers puts it 're-align' the motor with the tranny?.
q3: when removing motor block, do i need to remove slave cylinder from tranny?
im going to be doing the swap with at least one friend helping so..
any other tips are appreciated.
no ps or ac.

Q1: No, you dont need the brake, a well placed prybar is all you really need.
Q2: Im assuming you are talking about properly aligning the clutch. Just use the alignment tool that comes with the clutch kit.
Q3: Remove it from the trans. Unbolt it and lay it out of the way but there is no need to open the system unless you feel like bleeding your clutch.

about Q1: i called mazdatrix to see if they sell the flywheel puller, dude on the phone said to use a deadblow and whac it at the perimeter. Loosen the flywheel nut off about half a turn or so and whac the flywheel. The nut is there to keep the flywheel from comming off the shaft and breaking every toe on your foot/damaging the ring gear.
EDIT: i need to read more betterer, i just use my hand to brake the flywheel to loosen the pressure plate bolts. Just bounce on the wrench and you should have no problems. If that doenst work, i use my fist (teather ball) to hit the wrench to loosen the nuts.
