Crank position sensor?.

I have a 86 RX7 with a crank position sensor. Is it possible to replace it with a distributor?.

you can but should only be done if your going carb. you if you do the swap hold on to your coils as you will want to run dlidfis or something like it.

to do so line up the tdc mark on the pulley with the pointer on the front cover, and align the marks on the dizzy. drop it in and set timing

Short answer is no. You would have to ditch the entire stock EFI system.

Why would you want to do this anyway?

Carb is a small hp gain compared to EFI but not worth it IMO.

Unless you already have the parts around, the CHEAPEST your going to end up spending is 100 for a carb, 200 for a manifold, 50 for a pump, and between 50 and 200 for a ignition system depending on if you go with stock 1st gen stuff or MSD (2 6AL boxes and blaster coils will be the best investment you'll ever make).

I have pretty much everything you can do to a carb'd setup without porting the engine or going turbo and am putting down around 170whp. Cut intake, modified/jetted carb, Holley pump & FPR, headers, etc.

The EFI system is much more responsive and smoother. Swapping to carb definitely isn't worth it IMO. Unless your going to build a full blown drag car and need to go bigger than the stock TB, I would say don't bother.
