A Crank Noise or, Clank Noise Click to see details (Help)

Ok, so basically what happens is this... as i drive off from a red light, or a stop. I here this CLANK! or CRANK! noise... i somewhat feel it on the shift ****, and i hear it more on the front passenger side rather than the center or the front driver side.

It also occurs while driving (not all the time) Usually when i change gears aswell. And also while in gear and constantly letting go of the gas pedal, and pushing it back down constant.

In this process:

Gas [Crank goes here], Release, Gas [Crank goes here], Release...

One of my buddies says it sounds like a broken or damaged axle... but why is it that i feel it coming from the shift ****. is this related to a tranny mount? or... what? I dont think its a U-Joint...

help please?

i havent figured that out yet im currently at work. and my car is at mazdatrix. So far we suspect its in the driveshaft area. My u-joints looked ok, but you cant rebuild a mazda manufactured part. Only aftermarket shafts are capable of rebuilding the joints... as far as i know.

but the joint is a good 200-300 bucks. I dont mind the price, but i want it fixed. But if theres anything i haven't covered fill it in.

Edit: the driveshaft is a good 200-300
