Crank Angle sensor, me retard

After extensive re-work on my car, I thought I did put the CAS in correctly. However, now I'm having doubts.

Does anyone know how to put the CAS in just like you would at the factory? Its not in my hanes manual etc.

Simply positioning the pully to the yellow mark and placing in the CAS with its marks lined up on it, isn't the way to go, I'm sure. Since this is an rx7 it cannot be that simple.

PLease help.

thanks.

Remove the cover from the CAS. Line up the mark, then use your finger to hold it steady as you stab it down quickly. If quick doesn't do it, go slower. It may rotate very slightly as the teeth find their home, but shouldn't skip a tooth.

Yes, it's a major pain in the ***. At least for me it is.

Thanks Aaron.

I'm having so much stupid trouble with this.

Here's the reason I'm such a ******* retard.

I replaced the front cover from an s5 to the s4 block that I recently installed. INstead of being smart and pen marking the CAS on the s4 I grew a brain and marked the s5 instead. Drrrrrrr.

So when I reinstalled the CAS that comes with the front cover on the s5, I installed it according to the s5 block that's sitting on my garage floor right now.

DRRRR.....

Now I can't for the life of me figure out how to position this correctly.

I know this because I went to my other 87 NA and aligned the yellow pully marks and took out the CAS in it to verify where the CAS marks would be in relation to the pully marks.

Well, the dot on that CAS is on the exact 180 degrees opposite side of the CAS aliegning mark, even though the yellow pully mark is aligned.

WTF!!!!

This means, at least from what I can gather, is that the CAS cannot be set in and assumed to be in the correct position even though the yellow pully marks and CAS marks are aligned.

Or this means that:

I am a big fat retard!

Probably both.

Ohhh, and as an after thought, I should remove the cover.

You mean, the cover on the CAS? The one with two phillips heads?

I've never done that. Ever. Not that its an incorrect proceedure, I'm just a super retard.

If you have a timing gun and you can set the timming correctly the cas is in correctly.
