CP Racing triangular strut bar problems

I have an 89 Turbo 2 and recently purchased the triangulated strut bar from CP. I test fitted it the other day and ran into a couple of problems. 1) On both strut towers the sensors that are mounted on the front side of the towers has to be moved, not a big deal, but then 2) the main bar of the CP strut bar hits the FAN!!! This is a big problem. Brian at MazMax assured me that my engine is sitting right (the stock fan is half in the shroud and half out).

Has anyone else experienced these problems with this strut bar? Help Please, especially with the fan thing.

I remember some members cut the back of the blades to allow proper fitment.

I went with a 10,000 rpm flex fan with a 2" spacer.....it just clears the bar. I think I had about .25" clearance. Now I have yet to really dirve it so I'm not sure if it will keep the coolat cool or if it will over heat.

I also had to grind down the ends of ths straight bar so that it would not hit the hood.

I think someone hates CP Racing!!! Anyway, all hating aside, Can I get a little more info on that fan? Mazmax is putting a fluidyne radiator on for me this week so it would be the best time to change a few things with the cooling system.

On some cars the bars hit. I'm not sure what the difference is. Maybe someone with a bunch of spare fans from different years can measure and see if there is a difference.

Anyway, you may be able to space the bar up slightly with washers on the strut tower bolts. If you can't get enough distance, then you may need to trim the fan. FWIW, on my car, an '86, the bar cleared the fan easily with about an inch or more to spare.

I had to clip my fan, but other than that it fit correctly.

You know something, the way you prove your points is astonishing. You have such a clearcut point of view and your opinions are so well expressed. You must be amazingly well educated.

If you have something to say, say it properly. Stop with the lame, pathetically childish trash talk because you're REALLY starting to get on mine and a LOT of other peoples' nerves. Mmkay?

About the bar:

Oddly enough it fit perfectly on my '87 GXL and required trimming of the rad fan on my '88 Base. Something is amiss and I don't think it's the bars. I've heard of people having problems at the firewall because their car is twisted or sagging. I've never heard of it not clearing the hood though, that's a new one. Interesting...

Wankler has a valid point.

Go browse the 1st gen section to see how many of them love CP racing.
