Question cp racing strut brace question

Got my front strut brace from CP Racing, the installation requires that I trim almost an inch off my clutch fan blades, my question is will this significantly or at all reduce the capability of the fan?

My second question for those of you who have a cp design and have encountered this problem, can I mount the brace on spacers on top of the strut towers and make the whole unit about an inch higher?

thanks guys

I would think if you have to trim anything something is wrong with the brace. I made my own brace and built it so nothing needed trimmed. If you do trim the fan you will probably cause it to be unbalanced.

Not enough room to mount the brace higher as it will hit the hood at the strut tower.

That was me.

I still dont know why it doesnt fit like it should, kinda bugs me. I was wondering the same thing, and plan on going to an E-fan here shortly.

I can't see how this wouldn't significantly reduce the capacity of the fan. Because it's moving faster, the outside of the fan does more work than the inside.

Was this bar designed for the FC or is it generic? There are plenty of strut braces available that can be fitted to FC's without any modification. I think you should send yours back and get one of those.

It fits fine on some years and not on others, mazda changed the blade length on some models. I believe it fits fine on s5, my s4 required minor trimming. I made a template and trimmed them all equally. The fan is balanced very well, theres no excess vibrations. It has not affected my cooling at all, even with a/c temps are normal. The part thats trimmed doesn't really do much in the way of air pulling as is.
