Covertable Tranny Output Counterweight
Well I finally got the transmission I baught off of ebay appart, it was stuck in reverse and I had to drill a hole in the side of the shifter turret to punch out the pin. I'll just tap it and put a short bolt in it later. Anyways There is absolutly nothing wrong with the tranny, the shifting rod got stuck.
Upon getting the tail housing off I found a huge freaken counterweight on the ouput shaft. I have taken appart 6 mazda transmissions ranging from 81 - 91 and none of them had any type of counterweight on them. This tranny is a series 5 out of a 90 model covertable. I think this is kind of like a harmonic balancer for the tranny and also for vibration dampening, it does have some blance holes in it. My father things it is to help balance the drive train to help get rid of wheel hop. Obviously if it is for balance it will smooth out vibration. Is this counterweight only on the convertables because they are so heavy? or on they on all 2g trannies. I would like to know any information anyone has pertaining to this. What does the RX-7 manual call it? I would also appreciate it if someone can scan a page from a manual and send it to me, my email is Kyrasis6@hotmail.com
Thanks in advance for any info you guys can give me.

Dynamic Dampener
Ok the Fac Manuals say it is a Dynamic Dampener and apparently it is only on 7s from 89-92. Is there something specific about these cars that require the dampener?
