couple quick NA questions
hey everyone, i'm not having much luck with search and was wondering if someone could toss me a few quick answers.
how well do NA engines generally hold up?
how much does a stock rebuild usually cost?
and are the transmissions known for any common problems?
i've really wanted a 2nd gen rx-7 for a long time, just as a 2nd, sort of project car. any help/info's appreciated, thanks alot

Im a tall midget.
iTrader: (28)
n/a engines last 250k+ miles if taken care of. Theres a couple of people on here with very high mileage n/a engines that still run well. Rebuilds start at $1,000 for a basic rebuild. You can rebuild the engine yourself for a little less money. When I had my n/a RX-7, the drivetrain gave me no problems. Im not 100% sure but I think the drivetrain is good for 240 horses MAX.

Hey dont rebuild your engine just buy one already done i know a guy who will sell you a t2 for a second gen around $1400 thats would be a better way to go then trying to rebuild a slower one.

1. VERY well... if treated right (revved high, oil changed religiously etc....)
2. a) do it yourself? < $1000.
b) rebuilt drop in? about $1600-3600
3. the ratio from 1st to 2nd is too large for "power shifting" you WILL grind if you shift 1-2 too fast... just deal with it

Yeah except for the fact you need basically half a tii to complete that swap Definately not as easy as it sounds. I would never buy a NA with hopes to turbo it at a later date. Its not cost effective, and kind of stupid imo (unless you have a wierd attachment to your NA)
