couple questions trans and stationary

ok well first i just recently got a turbo II motor and it had a bunch of odd things! like here is the first one

ok well towards the shifter the is a whole on the left of it but looks like they lost the bolt and it had a spark plug plugging the hole up? is this suppose to be there or is it suppose to be plugged up???

ok second i am rebuilding my motor and i saw on mazdatrix that you can put the renesis stationary gears on your 13b motor. ok has anybody done this? any improvemenys better off? any leaks? and can you mix them like lets say you bought rear stationary gear off a renesis can you put a hardened 13b one and put it as the front stationary gear? or is it better just to do both 13b?

For the transmission question, it's probably missing the reverse or neutral switch & someone jammed a spark plug in the hole to keep oil from leaking.
