Could someone teach me what these parts are?

I'm pulling emissions and the air pump, but I'm not entirely sure about this mess. I just want to know which parts are what (bring on MSPaint) and which parts I have to keep for the car to perform well. I'm only asking about the parts pictured below.

thanks

Ooooooo

That part is your ACV, aka air control valve. It helps with emissions, mainly it supplies
fresh air to the cat(alitic converter). If you live anywhere you might have to even possibly worry about smog, tape up the holes in it and put it in your closet or something for when smog rolls around.

Iowa doesn't do smog tests, I'm free and clear. I thought this was my ACV, but I wasn't sure if ALL that mess was the ACV. This leads me to one question, I'm pulling my emissions stuff and I know the ACV can be blocked off, however I think that blocks the line to my boost sensor. Is that correct and if so, what do I do about it?

Just use another pressure source that sees post throttle body pressure (vacuum and boost).

Any suggestions? Does the FSM show where exactly all those vacuum lines run when going through manifolds and such (where you can't tell exactly where they go just by looking).

Is the air pump really needed for the car to require to run? Isn't it just another emission equipment?

The air pump is 'necessary' on the NA's for two reasons: the cats and the auxiliary ports. Only one reason for the turbos, and when you pull the cats that reason is gone. So I don't need my air pump any more.

ya, you can take them off, but you will lose power because of the 5th and 6th port actuators arent coming on due to no air being fed to open them.
solution, wire them open, it kinda sucks for the low end, but unless you are a pro driver and are like, one with the car, you will never notice a difference.

peace

You do lose low end and you WILL notice a difference. Keep your airpump.

On s4's, the aux ports are opened by exhaust back pressure. On s5's the air pump opens that aux ports. SO if you have an s4, the air pump is just for convertor. I'm speaking of N/A's of course..
