Question could someone check their air flow meter

on a '89-'91 by pushing in the cone and tell me how it feels? Mine scrapes and seems gritty when travelling inward. I think my hesitation might be because of a f***ed air flow meter, but I don't have any others around to compare it to. This is about the last thing I can think of to check on my hesitation woes, and I'm getting sick of messing with it Thanks in advance for any info on the subject!

Thanks for the reply Ted. No I am not running around without an air filter. I did however get some dirt/water passing through the system a couple months back after driving through a puddle that turned out to be more of a creek, covering the tailpipes and stalling the car out Don't tell me, I know I shouldn't have gone into it but it was 12 am, pouring down rain, very poor visibility going about 5mph. It ran ok after the water level dropped 10 minutes later and I didn't think too much of it on the intake side. So now that I've identified the most probable cause of my troubles, does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it? I had it out before but I can't remember if you can take it apart without breaking it. Any help from here on???

Mine has a stange rattling inside it. It sounds as if there is a tiny rock inside that bounces around. I have checked over it and there is no way anything can get in there. Maybe it's the spring that rattles.

Oh damn!&nbsp That's not good!&nbsp There's a lot of delicate electronics in there - I just hope you can empty a can of brake cleaner into it and get all of the grit out!
