cost involved in basic TII rebuild?

Hi, Im considering buying a 1990 TII that has a bad engine. What should I expect to pay to rebuild the engine. I can do all the work. I just need a guesstamate so I have some idea what to expect. I want to rebuild it to factory. No mods. Thanks

I would open the engine first to see what parts are bad.. If everything is good about $1200.00 in parts. that includes almost everything you will need..

Does that include freshing up the turbocharger itself, or just engine parts? Thanks!

Also, were the stock TII cars considerably faster than the NA cars? I have an 88rx7 GXL NA that really isnt very impressive. I have always wanted a TII but have never rode in one to see if they were that fast.

The TII models are funner to drive with much more power. The price is just for the parts you will need. Remmeber if any components are bad..housings/rotors. it will cost more..
