Corvette smog pump vs air pump

I guess this question is mainly for SonicRat after reading his writeup on how to install the corvette electric smog pump on his very informative site:1300cc.com...
Is the corvette pump better than the stock pump by means of space, or by means of emissions passibility, or both?

I have an Ls1 airpump setup. The main reason I did this was to get rid of the ugly *** stock airpump and free up that area for a larger turbo. I passed emmisions with the Ls1 airpump hooked up to a 2.5 inch cheapo high flow autozone cat in the middle of my RB 3 inch exhaust. Passed with amazing results with a streetported s5 TII engine running 93 octane and a **** tune.

I can't really say though if it actually does outperform the stock airpump I never tried passing with the stock pump. 1300cc says that the pump draws 10A but the one I got(from a 98 camaro I think) draws alot more than that. Kept blowing fuses when flipped on. It blew up to 20A then I put in a 30A fuse and it stopped. I highly recommend running an upgraded alt like the FD alt if you run an electric pump. I've also read that these like to get pretty hot after running them for a little while(15mins). I've only run mine for less that 5 mins total.

Wouldn't installing a relay prevent blowing fuses?

Yeah probably. I didn't have any laying around nor did I feel like going to buy some for a setup that will only be used for about 10 minutes in a 2 year period of time. So I made do with what I had.

Which black magic fan? 150? I have a Black Magic Extreme(180) 3300cfm fan and I think it draws like 18 amps.

If your running an E-fan AND the ls1 airpump then I strongly recommend an FD alt or better.
