Smells like 2 stroke.
Just thought I'd chime in and say that although I've never done a pump swap or changed to a different spec fluid, I have properly de-powered two S4 GXL racks which involves a complete disassembly of the rack.
IIRC, the only seals in the rack were either teflon or what appeared to be butyl rubber which are both very versatile materials and compatible with most automotive related oils.
Not sure if this helps at all I just thought I'd mention it.

I ended up running regular Type F after talking to Peter Soboyejo, who's had the Volvo pump in his car for a few years
