CorkSport Oil cooler Line Help

Hey Guys! I just wanted to get on here and ask for some advice, I recently purchased the braided SS lines from CorkSport to replace my leaky stock oil cooler lines for my 1987 base rx7.Although the longer line on the bottom fits perfect, I am having some odd fitment issues with the shorter top line. The short line that goes from the front of the engine seems to be too long and rubs in 2 different places. I have tried installing it a few different times and followed the directions but nothing seems to help.
Does anyone have any advice, or can anyone see if I'm doing anything wrong?
I have been talking to CorkSport for about 5 weeks now, and although theyve been nice, they havent been super helpful with the issue.
Thank you guys for all your help

I can't remember what brand I put on. However my line does have a little seepage, but nothing worth fussing about.

Google "corksport oil cooler line issues" when I did there were threads about problems with them. Maybe one can give you some insight. Good Luck!

Thank you for you reply, I did look up some other threads but most of them either said they felt the lines were too short, or that they were just fine and a bit of a pain to put in. My main concern is where it could possibly rub on the pulley and on the engine bay, I really dont want to have to replace something that i paid almost $200 for because it rubbed and caused a leak. I guess what Im really looking for is advice on if I have done something wrong or if this is normal for CorkSport if so, then I will suck it up and make it work or just go buy and oem line to replace the short line because I really dont feel comfortable with that fitment. I guess im just confused on why the bottom line fits perfectly and the top line is much longer than the original

That line is clearly too long, I'd recommend contacting Corksport again, send them pictures and ask them to them make it right. FWIW, I purchased the same CS lines around 2001 for my FC; had a similar problem - my short line was just a LITTLE too long. Not as long as yours, but installing them that way resulted in a kinked line no matter how I tried routing them. After a bit of back & forth with CS, they shipped me a new line that fit perfect.

corksport isnt always known for their quality and workmanship, but they should correct it if you show them and give them enough crap.

I thought "most" aftermarket lines like that are for the a/c compressor removed?

Thanks for the response guys, I just wanted to make sure I wasnt going crazy
Ive been in contact with them about the line for over a month now and they havent resolved it.
And I dont think the lines need the ac compressor removed to work since they advertise it as a direct oe replacement and even instruct you to put the ac compressor and belt back on after installation. I think I just got a bunk line. If they dont resolve it soon I might just bite the bullet and go buy an oem line.

The CS lines are supposed to fit with A/C and related A/C lines. Mine do, you just need to follow the stock routing of lines.

When I put my lines on I didn't have to think about it any to be honest. I also still have A/C. I probably used CorkSport as well, but don't recall.

Good Luck I know it sucks when something doesn't work as advertised.

Hey boss, something to note from your third photo, you may want to think about removing that aluminum peg off your intercooler. The banjo fitting on the CS lines don't allow the line to clear well on either side of the peg, causing kinks or wear spots against the frame. I had to remove it on mine. No problems with the fitting as long as it's torqued properly. If you want to relocate the peg, you can probably have someone weld it back on somewhere else for you.

Hope this helps

Good eye, but I don't think he'll have to remove the peg... The stock lines, and by design the CS lines which use similar banjo fittings, should go on the oil cooler and be oriented exactly the same way. That peg is there to provide a solid surface to torque the banjo fitting against when tightening, so it is oriented correctly. In the picture, looks like the OP got the fitting on the wrong side of the peg, which may be because the line is way too long as noted. I'll check my FC tonight to verify, but I didn't have to remove the peg - the CS lines, IF they are the right length and have the fittings clocked correctly on the lines at both ends, will install exactly like the stock lines with zero modification necessary.

I compared the fittings on my cs lines to the fittings from the old stock lines when I was reinstalling and there was about an 8-10 degree difference in the bend. I like having the peg there to torque against and understand its purpose but it didn't fit like that on mine for some odd reason. I had to make the best with what I had. When I can get my hands on a welder, I do plan on welding it back on. The ends on the cs lines are too hard and brittle to risk bending to fit. OP definitely needs to try to secure and pad the lines like the stock ones to reduce abrasion.

removing the peg wouldnt do any good, since if you turned it more towards the peg it would just cause the line to kink even more.

basically they just made it too long and don't want to admit they screwed the pooch.

If worst comes to worst, he can take it to a hydraulic shop and they can take a couple inches out of the middle and crimp it back together

pretty much, which is why i don't think he should just accept it being junk and have to buy an OEM line. call them up, bitch them out, get it fixed or replaced.
