Corksport FMIC - my review

Corksport FMIC - my review
So I just got done yesterday installing my corksport front mount intercooler (FMIC)
I thought I'd do a little review on it, since I couldn't find crap for it on here.
The kit itself is really nice. The tubing is thin, lightweight, nicely polished + has beads around the ends so the hoses won't bust off. The clamps are actual T clamps, not those shitty worm gear ones that like to break under high pressure. The silicone tubes are a very nice 3 layer that come in blue or red. The core is beautiful. It's HUGE as well.
The instructions (which I didn't get in mine, but can be found here -> http://support.corksport.com/instruc...-6-125-WEB.pdf) were pretty decent. Bigger pictures would be nice, but it's good enough.
Now this kit claims to be fore S4 + S5 FC's. I found out the hard way, that it's not really for an S5. But it will work.
The tube going to the throttle body has a nipple going off of it and is supposed to be used with a T connecting to the two other hoses coming from the stock TMIC. On my S5 Jspec motor, the only hoses on the TMIC were for inlet + outlet, so this nipple needs to be clamped off.
Now, the tube that goes to the turbo has a reduction in it. Again, on my S5 Jspec, it didn't need it. So I had to order a 90* reducing hose.
A few other things to take note on are that you need to find yourself two nuts for the bolts they give you to hold the top bracket on with. Not a big deal, but still something to keep in mind.
The kit that I got specifically had all of the same size clamps in it. There needed to be two larger ones in it for the intercooler core itself. Not a big deal since I had some worm gear clamps laying around + had to order parts anyways.
The hardest part for me personally was fitting the core. I had to trim things about 10 times to get it to fit right.
Now, I haven't gotten a chance to see what kind of power I gained from this since it's leaking, but once I get that figured out I'll post more about it. I'll also get an approximate pressure drop (with the stock turbo) once everything is 100% Also, pics as well.

The pipe going to the turbo has a reduction in it that isn't needed. I wrapped a ton of electrical tape on it, just to get it running, but I'm pretty sure that's where the leak is coming from.
I still have my stock cat's on, + my boost gauge isn't working so I'm not 100% on things. But I'm pretty sure it's leaking from there.
Pics coming soon.

Okay so pics are up. Yes my car is dirty. Yes, some stuff looks like poo. I don't care.
I hope you can figure out what each pic is. If not, oh well.
I'm still waiting on my order from frozenboost so I can put that reducer elbow on + see if that fixes my leak.

So - preliminary butt test says YESSS!!
lol
I got the right reduction coupler from Derrick at corksport tonight. I threw it on + took her around the block. I did notice a little bit of a pressure drop, but I won't be able to tell for sure once I leak test it + get my gauge working again.
If you are ordering this kit for an S5, make sure you tell them. They'll probably throw in the correct reduction hose that you need with your kit.
I kind of feel like the loss in pressure (if any) is a good thing. The stock turbo creeps like a ****. So a little less pressure is a good thing. Plus, if you throw a bigger turbo on there it will be able to handle it.

Alright, so I got my boost gauge working today. Didn't have the ground properly... err grounded. heh.
Anyways, I did a few pulls up to about 50 mph in 2nd and 3rd. Ended up hitting 9 psi! This is with the stock turbo, apexi intake, stock downpipe, stock cat + apexi dual N1's. So really not much (if any) of a pressure loss. I wish I had an AIT gauge so I could see the change from stock, but that will come later.
Now I just need to do some fuel mods, throw on my neo + get her dyno tuned. All in all, I would say this is a pretty good kit. I'm not really a fan of how many bends there are in the pipes, but for something that uses a lot of stock parts, it's a great kit. With the huge core it also gives you room to upgrade. Plus Corksport has GREAT customer service + support. A+ to you guys!

intercooler upgrade w/o doing the exhaust? You could probably buy a good 3in downpipe from someone for about $100 or less. I'm sure the S5 wastegate can handle it
If you can't afford the fuel upgrades, just make a restrictor plate in the exhaust to minimize boost creep.
More importantly though, you need to get a good temperature gage and watch it religiously. With my stock radiator, temps cilmbed pretty rapidly, especially in town. If you do get an upgraded radiator, I don't recommend the CXRacing one. I got conned in to buying one. I hear good things about the godspeed one, but the one I got just doesn't fit.

I have a corksport downpipe + test pipe. I just had to throw the stock cats on for emissions testing.
I plan on getting a prosport temp gauge. Possibly a koyo rad if I can't clean my stock one out. I've been running straight water, which is a bit cooler than 50/50. But also rusts much faster hahah.
