Copper exhaust manifold gasket
Has any one tried copper exhaust manifold gaskets on 13BT. I know that genuine mazda is best and $$$, they say copper seals better on uneven surfaces but can it hold up to the heat of a turbo. Cheers

Copper melts at 1984 F so it won't melt. That means it probably softens around 750 F, since that's halfway between melting and absolute zero (-460 F). It would be similar to using lead at room temperature, another soft metal. What does that mean for you? I have no clue. Maybe that's why it seals better.

if you can't find a copper gasket, get a new gasket and a bottle of copper gasket spray (http://permatex.carshopinc.com/produ...id/42287/80697) and spray a light coat on the gasket and let it get almost completely dry (to where it is very tacky) and spray another coat, rinse and repeat till you have 3-4 coats. install the gasket when the copper spray is very tacky. works very well.
I did this to a stock headgasket while building a buddies boosted b20z/gsr head civic, and he ran 18psi for a few months till he melted a piston lol. stupid pistons always melting lol.
