There is few tests you can do to verify if you are indeed burning coolant. Search the forum and visit aaroncake.net

sorry for bring it back up, but when checkin for bubbles should the car be warmed up? or does it not matter.

i took off the radiator cap after a 30 minute drive and there was coolant gushing out. is that normal or does that indicate bad coolant seal.

In order to perform the test the car must be cold. If the coolant got hot enough because the car ran for more than a few minutes IT WILL GUSH OUT. The test is as follows: Simply remove the cap (engine cold), fill the rad, unplug the EGI fuse and CAS, crank the car and check for coolant gushing out or bubbles. Does the gushing out/ bubbles stop if you stop cranking? Does it gush out/bubbles more if the engine turns faster? Failling this test pretty much indicates a blown seal but it isn't garranteed.

The coolant system is under pressure when hot, so you must do it when cold.

i think i am have this problem also, but i have a 87. i ran the car for not even 4 minutes. and the car wouldnt rev pass 2 in first. so i parked and the temp gauge said it was normal but i pulled off the rad. cap and it was gushing. so i waited for like 5 minutes and it was just fine. and any one know what the oil pressure gauge should be at?
