"cooling fan" light?

Sometimes when I am driving my 87 TII the "cooling fan" light goes on. When I get home I always check it. Nothing seems to be loose and it is not hitting or rubbing the shroud. Also my temp. does not go up either. Anybody have an idea of why this is happening? If it is just a false alarm, (cause we all know how the idiot cluster is usually jacked), what would cause the light to go on if something was actually broken?

Thanks.
Tim

The idiot light is for the *electric* fan - the one that's in front of the radiator. It may be stuck/full of stuff/etc.

That fan only runs with the AC on or when the coolant temperature gets really high.

Whew. Thanks guys. It's on I guess cause I dont have a e-fan on the radiator. And I also have no AC.
