Coolant System Question
Coolant System Question
Hey guys, I just finished my TII swap and have just started testing, things are going smooth except crazy smoke coming from the under the turbo somewhere. At least I though that was the only problem. Well after I looked for the turbo problem I went in the house for about an hour. When I came back out I noticed my top radiator hose was all collapsed in. (sucked together) I removed the radiator cap in and went back to it's regular shape. What's up with this? Anyone know?
Sounds like you didn't fill the radiator all the way. When the water cools it creates a suction if there is air in the system. Make sure you are using the correct radiator cap. Pressure test the system for leaks. If you don't have a bleeder to open when you fill the system, fill and run engine with cap off and add coolant as the air escapes from system. Usuall the air doesn't start to leave until the thermostat opens.
or the smoke under the turbo could be from coolant leaking out of one of the coolant fittings on the turbo and burning off. This could create a vacuum in the cooling system once it cools down if the overflow bottle hose is clogged (which it sounds like it is, since the hose collapsed)
