Coolant system prob

OK.....in my 87 NA my annoying coolant light began to come on constantly. I figured it was just low on coolant so i added some. The light (and buzzer) stayed on. Came on while the car was at idle but went off when i was on the highway or the car was moving. I also noticed that the temp guage went up when i was stopped at idle. When i got home, popped the hood and noticed anitfreeze leaking in a spot on the left side of the engine. I dont think its anything major, but i would like some suggestions as to what the problem maybe before i begin probing.

There are two hoses that go to your intake on that side of the motor. Check them for leaks. They get old and crack.

left side of engine in front or back?

front could be waterpump, water pump housing gasket, bac valve cooling hose on back of filler neck, other hoses etc.

back it is prob heater hoses etc.

lots o places for leaks to occur especially if all original hoses etc as they eventually crack/wear out.

housing seals are a possibility as well...not good if these

need clarification.... drivers side or passenger side?????????? towards the firewall or towards the bumper?????

Its most likely a hose.... #1 offender is the one that comes out of the block under the oil filter and goes to the heater hose... (drivers side towards the firewall) gets dripped on by oil from changing the filter and degrades, buldges, blows......
