coolant seal update :D

since two days ago i haven't had to add ANY kind of ANY fluid to my coolant system after a blown coolant seal. ::knocks on wood:: ::crosses fingers::

one question though, right now it has the leak sealer and just water in it. With the water the needle has not gone above 1/2 since the coolant seal apparently worked. Is it bad to have just water and no coolant as long as it doesn't overheat?? Does the coolant help with corrosion prevention??

If it lasts a while i'll post the stuff i used and what worked and what didn't...

i dunno, mine was leaking pretty unhappily (not all the time thoug) and some Bars stop leak, stopped the leak. Someone on the forum said i need to clean out my coolant system ASAP though... which i've yet to do (been a couple days), prolly do it morrow

I'm not totally sure but i think the boiling point of a water/coolant mix is higher than water alone, not sure what effect this actually has on the cooling system though. I would put the proper mixture in as soon as you can if only to prevent corrosion.

ahh, for the ref, 50/50 mix of notox boils at 238, freezes at -lots something. 63coolant/27water comes out to be like 263 boil point. Both quite a bit higher than the standard h20 212

You're forgetting the system is pressurized.
Boiling point jumps up to like 230F for like a 0.9 bar cap - most common.
