Talking Coolant Seal blown, what is the engine sealant ghetto quick fix?

I have heard of a quick fix for a coolant leak using engine sealant. Is this something i can try without pulling the engine out?

There is a trick using block weld, but it is a bad idea. If it is a minor coolant seal leak, then it might fix the problem, but probably not. There is a very good chance that it will ruin your housings, though, which will raise the cost of the rebuild. One piece of advice: DO NOT under ANY circumstances let the engine sit after the coolant seals fail. The engine WILL rust solid in a very short amount of time and you will lose EVERYTHING.
My advice: pull the engine immediately and take it apart (or take it somewhere to rebuilt) to avoid any further damage.

Edit: As soon as I find the charger for my camera, I can take a picture of what your engine probably looks like inside, and show you why block weld probably won't work.

Ok, here is a link: look at the "coolant seal damage" section. That is what happens if you let it sit with a bad coolant seal. The 3rd picture from that section is what is probably causing your coolant leak - a ruptured coolant jacket. As you can see, it would be hard to actually fix that....

If it still runs after 2 years, then the leak probably wasn't too bad. I still think it should be torn down, because even if the fix works, it probably won't last long and you will have to tear it down anyway.

You could have went to www.rotaryresurrection.com go to the tech section.Kevin Landers has some info on HOW to Quick fix the cooling system, and it is a "Do at your Own" risk sort of thing.

If you plan on throwing out that engine and not using it as a good core or rebuild
maybe Gunk Stop or Crap Goo or some thing like that will work.... For a while.
But if you like actually driving your 7, stop leak type fixes will fail, at the worst time.
Engine rebuilds can be expensive but in the long run the choices will end up the same as they are now, do it right and save headache, or sell the car.

If you want to keep driving the car and can not afford a rebuild right now
Go to your local autoparts shop and get a can of Blue devil!
Its pricey about 75.00 a can and the **** works. We have used it in 3 rx7s and a ton of v8s.Make sure you do exactly what the directions say or the **** want work right.I had a 88 with bad seals, and it lasted for 2 years maybe longer I sold the car.

The block weld trick is only a last ditch effort to be used in an emergency (ie. at the track, trapped in the middle of nowhere, etc.). It completely clogs the rest of the cooling system and virtually guarantees that you will be trying to flush the stuff out for years afterwards...
