Coolant problem

I have a problem that is a bit hard to explain.
The warning light for low coolant level comes on accasionally when Im driving, but only below 2500rpm. Its not the warninglight circuit... I changed the radiator cap since it didnt seem to be working properly, but it didnt help much. I have tried to bleed the system, but the air-bubbles just never stop. It seems impossible to bleed. My fear is that there is air/ exhaust leaking from the combustion-chambers into the watersystem (worn seal), which means a total stripdown of the engine. Any suggestions? Is there anything else I can try before I do the hard job...?

If you are seeing air bubble rising in the filler neck with the cap off and the engine running, it is likely that the coolant seal(s) in the engine have failed requiring a rebuild.

BTW, don't confuse turbulence with air bubbles. You may see a little turbulence in the coolant with the cap off, but that is not a cause for concern. But air bubbles are air bubbles, so it should be easy to see the difference. Just thought I would mention that since it would be a bummer to rebuild an engine when it's not necessary.

Thanks, Im pretty sure its air bubbles, but I will do some more tests and maybe even change the coolant just to make sure I get all the air out. And if it is caused by exhaust fumes, it should look pretty gray and muddy I think...

not necessarily, my roomates car has the same type of blow, and they coolent doesnt look that bad at all, some SLIGHT discoloration that looks kinda metallic, but you can barely tell just by glancing at it

are the bubbles filling the overflow too?

Try this before rebuild:

You could also use one of these to really be certain that the system is totally bled of all air.

Also, get a compression test.
