Coolant level sensor connector Help Please again

Ok heres whats going on in my NA 86 13b. The add coolant light kept coming on. I bleed the system and it stopped. This week it Now I stays on all the time. I looked at the Rad, the resevoir, and all hoses and there are no leeks. The filler cap (adjacecent to the thermosat housing) sometimes releases coolant, I'm not sure if it from pressure or what. But here is what i don't understand. Is the cooland level sensor wire (The wire extending from the black hex shaped bolt like nut on tope of the rad, next to the rad cap on the left side) suppose to be connected to something or is it supposed to be grounded to the car frame? If so mine is not and would this stop the cooland level sensor from busy my FvCking brains out. Please help I have looked at every diagram on the coolant system out there and I don't see where the coolant level sensor connector should go. Please Help BTW I plan on changing the theremosat this weekend anyway.

Thank you in advance cause I know you guys will have great input on this issue...

The coolant level sensor is at the top middle of the radiator. If the buzzer is going off, you've got air in the system, plain and simple.

With the engine cold, open up the radiator cap on the radiator and top it off - an air bubble at the top of the radiator is what's making the buzzer go off.

If there is coolant coming out from that filler cap on the thermostat housing, there's a leak there - that should be fixed. NO coolant should come out anywhere.

Dale,
The coolant is coming directly out that nozzle where I believe you connect a pressure tester to. What would be the best way to fix that. replace the cap and that black housing our try to put a new seal on it.

Yes, this wire is supposed to be connected. The other end of the wire comes out of the wire loom right near the AFM. Look around there and see if you can find it.

Change the rad cap as well as the t-stat, be sure to get the parts from the dealer.

Is the nozzle that you are speaking of in your last post, the one that leads to the overflow tank?

The nozzle he speaks of is an overflow nipple that is supposed to go to a hose and out to the overflow bottle.

IF you want rid of the buzzer until you can figure out your problem, ground the wire(on the harness side) and it'll quit. Dont think you've fixed anything though, you havent, so keep researching your problem. REmember that anytime you lose coolant, air replaces it, and air in the system is what sets of that buzzer to begin with. You either have an external or internal leak.

Soetimes the easiest way to bleed a 7 system is to fil lit totally up, put your hand over the hole for the coolant cap, and squeeze the upper hose violently. This pushed water into the radiator and air will usually go back towards the cap where yor hand is, so stop squeezing and remove your hand, and repeat until you think all the air is out.

Using the bleeder screw is a less redneck way of doing it, but is sometimes too complex an idea for people to grasp.

That over flow nipple is the only place where coolant is coming out of there are now other leaks... So I need to connect a hose back to the over flow nipple then to the resevoir. correct?

Thanks again Guys...you are the most supportive group of indivduals around

Yes, that nipple needs to have the hose connected to the overflow resevoir. If that is the only place you see coolant coming out, then you are fine as long as you get that hose hooked up.

That'll stop the buzzer, but it won't solve the loss of coolant problem.
