Heater Core. Have you touched the hoses the run to the firewall in the engine bay? If not chances are your heatercore sprung a leak which means you have to remove the dash. Hope you have a free weekend for that.

If it leaks on the passenger Side, attend to it as soon as possible. The passenger side Floor is where the Engine's ECU is located. If that gets Wet,Have FUN...and if the Coolant gets low,you risk Blowing the engine..fix it(please!).

Bro this is what you did most likely. Instead of taking plyers and twisting the hose loose and then pulling it you probably just pulled the hose hard and jerked it from side to side.
This likely caused the copper piping behind the firewall to crack and now said leak has occured. I did exactly the same thing.
You can bypass the heater core all together for now and still drive the car. You do this by running both hoses that run into the firewall together. You will have no heater but at least you dont cook your motor and burn your legs.
When you want to fix this you will need to pull the entire dash out to fix the core. You may not have to replace it at all, just simply cut the copper line where the crack is and simply use some hoses and clamps to splice the two back together. I did this and it works fine.
As AaronCake said, Mazda took the heater core and then designed the Rx7 around it, basically meaning it is a pain in the *** to get out. That is a whole other issue, but at least you know what is wrong with it and why.

I had a similar problem before. But mines was a simple fix. When I changed the clutch slave I removed the coolant hose going to the heater core. and when i put it back i guess i didn't tighten it up enough and ended up leaking coolant.
Check your clamps first before u bypass.

Mine did the same thing. On your firewall under the hood are your in and out hoses for the heater core. if you drive it only in the summer than you don't really need it because you wont be using your heat. maybe if you need to defrost but you'll find a way around that. if you drive it year round, than this will give you some time to fix it. Take off the in and out hoses (coolant will leak) and go to lowe's or your local hardware store and buy a copper pipe. measure the diameter of the hole on the tubes and how long the pipe will need to be. connect the two hoses to the pipe and clamp it down. Now your coolant is being looped and you can either, no fix the heater core, or two fix it. either way it should be a 10 minate fix to get you backon the road. but if i were you I'd fix the heater core after you loop it. I love my car and i'm sure everyone els does too.
