Coolant leak! need help ASAP

Just got my motor rebuilt 500 miles ago and I have been going very strictly by the break in process. Today I got back from a drive and all of a sudden there was coolant draining out of the bottom of the car. I just checked the hoses and can't find out where the leak is. Any ideas?

you'll have to be more specific....general area of the leak. Did you check the small water hoses around the TB? Heater hoses? Water pump?

there is no leak at the pump, or heater hoses, didnt look like there was anything coming from TB either.

how much fluid are we talkin about here and what is the general location of the leak (front of engine, rear of engine, drivers side, pass side, etc.?) also, turbo or n/a....does it leak all the time or only after it's heated up?

the car started leaking as soon as I turned it off, it seems to be towards the front of the engine in the center, most of the coolant is gone. Car is an 87 turbo

are your hoses new? its a good idea to replace those if they're old. sounds like a problem right at the water pump. cap sealing right? other misc caps? overflow tank? is it leaking out of the filler neck? sometimes the plastic top where the cap hooks onto cracks. hoses fitting right? does it smoke when it runs, or do you get bubbles in the coolant?

just some ideas

Just had the waterpump replaced?....did you check the gaskets to the waterpump housing as well? That's A LOT of fluid loss...did it overheat?....could be a crack in the top of the radiator...I had another mazda with that issue. Also....could check the hose from the filler neck to the overflow...maybe it got pulled out when the WP was replaced.

ditto on the weep holes...I just replaced my WP too.

I had a coolant leak on my rebuild shortly after it was in the car, my coolant drain plug on the block near the motor mount wasn't tight enough and coolant was leaking from there... might as well make sure thats tight too..

take jack. lift car, look for the source from bottom. shouldnt be able to miss it. when you replaced the water pump, did you get a new one, or one used off someone. Try taking off the intake manifold to see if anything is pooling ontop the motor from the back of the waterpump or the TB.

mine was leaking and all my hoses and waterpump were new and no cracks in my radiator, it turned out to be the o-ring that needed to be replaced. After that, no more leakage!
