coolant leak help!

I finished my s5 rebuild and have a terrible leak coming from the lower intake manifold. In the picture you can see the front housing (right) has a flat surface where the manifold meets up, and the rear housing (left) had an indent i think for a o-ring. I didn't have said o-ring so i just used a gasket maker. Do i need to grind out the front housing and put the o-rings in? or will it be ok to just put one on the rear since it has the spot and then leave the front just flat? Please help, I'll check back tomorrow for responses. i hope the image works.

I am pretty sure both opening should have a o ring. Atleast mines does.
The left opening is for the turbo coolant feed through the LIM, the right opening is blocked by the LIM. You can probably plug up the right side.

thanks for the reply. i'll probably dremel out the front and put an o ring in both in that case. then bolt it all up and see what happens then.

toxindude- i was worried about that, but i think that the coolant was just puddling up in the intake there from the leaking gasket.

I have the same problem with my S4 TII. The front coolant port was leaking somewhat so I tore it all apart, replaced both o rings and gaskets. But, the rear port didn't seat right so now I have a perfectly sealed front o ring and horribly leaking rear one. FML. Gonna tear it apart again soon, get a plug for the front port since it isn't needed and make damn sure the rear one seals this time.

Both my housings had an indent for the o rings. But I'd suggest getting the o rings this time though, they're cheap and combine them with gasket maker or sealant. I think my rear leak is from not enough sealant on the o ring.

I do not recommend skipping the o-ring. RTV there is not going to hold up longterm.

Also o-rings don't require sealant.
