Coolant leak

Driving home today I was pushing the car a bit and now the car is leaking coolant. I am pretty experienced with this car as I have rebuilt it once, but I'm not a trained mechanic or anything. I didn't want to mess with it until I could fill the radiator and check for leaks. I popped the hood, coolant is on the spark plug wires and that area. I am thinking it's just a hose. Should I run the car to test for the leak or is there something I should check or do first?

As long as it doesnt overheat let it idle to point out the leak.

Yes fill it up and LOOK.

The bac hose or the heater core hose (driver side) would be likely candidates.
