coolant leak

I might be buying a rx7 soon, but the one i'm looking at has one problem. It has a coolant leak coming from under the aircleaner. What could it be, because he says that he can't find the source of the leak.

there are numerouse things that could be wrong but most are easy fixes. from where it is coming from it may be the water pump....either from the weep hole or a bolt may just need re-tightening like mine did.

only coolant line I can think of under the air filter box is a coolant line from the heater and the lower radiator hose. He might not be able to find it when the car is off but when you turn it on and the system pressurizes and it then starts to leak.

The guy said he thought it might be the water pump too, but when he replaced it, it didn't fix it.

I'm new to Rx-7's so I don't know the engine very well yet. This will be the first car I've ever owned. I have a s10 blazer and it was leaking coolant because it had a bad intake manifold gasket.

But like swrx7 said, whatever it is, is it an easy fix?

Because it took me about 6 hours in the garage to fix my blazer and then somehow the timing got off.

Get/borrow/rent a pressure tester and pump it up when cold. Let sit and eventually you'll find where the leak is. You can even put some talcum powder on the area to highlight the leak.

Under the air cleaner? Sounds like a first gen. What year is the car your looking at?
