Coolant Keeps Flowin out of my overflow...

I overheated a couple days ago. I believe the issue was my radiator cap.

I replaced that and my thermostat.

Since then my car hasn't been overheating but just running out of coolant. I feel like maybe the new thermostat isn't opening and all of my coolant just keeps running through into the overflow and dumping out?

All i know is that i have to add coolant or water every time i need to run the car. (which is daily.!) And even while or after the car is running it will be dripping onto my front lip.

If you have any ideas i would greatly appreciate the input.
Thanks.

i just went threw the same thing and with mine i changed the cap and thermostat still had the same problem, so i took the thermostat out all together still same problem, finaly i changed the radiator and shes running cooler then ever.

make sure you get all the bubbles out but your worst case that can happen is you could of blown out some coolent seals when you over heated but good luck

Check the small diameter hose that connects the rad to the overflow bottle for pinhole leaks. If it has a small air leak, it can prevent the coolant from being "sucked" back into the radiator when the engine cools down. You may not see any evidence of a coolant leak in that hose, but the smallest air leak can cause this problem. Otherwise, have the coolant system pressure checked at a shop for air leaks.

You could take a sample of your coolant to a radiator shop. They can test it chemically for the presence of exhaust gases. If they are there, the reason for the overflow is likely the coolant pushed out of the block by the exhaust gases entering the cooling passages via a failed coolant seal (ask me how I know this). That is cured by a rebuild; changing the radiator, and or cap, will not affect the problem.

If there are no exhaust gases present, then look for the other (less expensive) faults, i.e. radiator cap, radiator, lack of ability to hold a vacuum in the cooling system, etc.

I second the recommendation to check for exhaust bubbling into the coolant overflow. That sounds like the problem to me.

Hopefully i didnt blow the any seals. car is runnin strong and its not overheating. Everytime i just gotta put coolant in.
Im thinkin im just gonna pull the thermostat out and see what happens. if thats not it ill prob replace the radiator. any suggestions of a good priced quality one?

do the poor mans check, remove the rad cap, remove the egi fuse, have someone crank the motor or try to do it yourself while looking to see if the fluid level changes or bubbles appear.

Is it s4 or s5? Hopefully its minor, I had similar situation when i had put an s4 waterpump setup on my s5 *basically having 2 radiator caps, one at the radiator, and the other at the water pump jacket*, and this resulted in similar situation til i made a block off plate and removed the cap assembly at the water pump jacket. So basically your setup isnt sucking back the overflow water.
