Coolant Issue

So, what would cause this issue you think? The coolant that came out was cold. This was after I drove it some and it started to overheat. Stuck thermostat?

When it overheated was the upper rad line hot or cold, if its cold that means your coolant was not flowing past the thermostat IIRC

Is the coolant flowing into the overflow bottle? I suspect not based on your statement. So make sure you have a radiator cap rated at the correct pressure. As the coolant gets hot and expands the pressure rises and excess coolant should be flowing into the overflow bottle. Also check the hose from the rad to the bottle.

Sounds like the cap is the wrong pressure. Also if the coolant is cold and the car overheats I'd suspect the thermostat is sticking. It's very easy to get to and replace. Just 3 bolts and a hose clamp on the upper rad hose and its right there. Make sure to replace the oring and if your plastic thermostat neck is looking suspect replace it so it doesn't leak and leave you stranded.

Yea. I turned the car off before it hit H. It was a tick before I think. I took out the thermostat. Seemed fine but I went ahead and ordered one. Radiator car is rated for 13psi, went to Advanced Auto and pressure tested it. It was fine.

I also looked at the resevoir this morning, it was at the Full mark. So I'm assuming that it never pushed it out into it which was also weird. Is a new radiator cap though.
