Cool part i got for S5! alum thermostat cover!

hey guys,

went down to mazdrix for random stuff so my car can cheat death one more week, and i stumbled upon a cool new item they had. the mechanic jon was showing me they made aluminum replacements for the thermostat covers for the S5. its a nice cast piece and not too much more that a new plastic one (which eventually break due to heat and cost about $70) so i got one and tried it on my car (about $120). here are some pictures:

it bolted right up with no modification. what i ended up doing was welding on a bung and hooking it up to an air separator, seeing that its is the highest point in the cooling system. i guess a bleeder valve would have worked too.

heres some pix of it in the car:

to my surprise, after hooking everything back up and starting the car, there were no leaks!

since the install, i have taken my car to many track event and am very pleased with the pieces. obvious benifits of the aluminum neck is that it probably will never break, also it allows a bung to be welded on. with the air/water separater is constantly bleeding the cooling system, it maximizes the cooling capacity of my radiator, and more importantly, keeps that stupid low coolant buzzer off!

if any of u are interested in the part, check out www.mazdatrix.com

I just spent the $200 bucks at MazdaTrix and bought the entire water pump and housing, and it included the new aluminum neck... should be here today, so I have something to do for the weeked.

the temp sensor addition was a great idea. You can run stock & aftermarket temp sensors much easier.
