Converting NA tranny to TII tranny - NOT A TURBO SWAP!! -
Ok, I recently blew up the tranny in my 1986 RX-7 GX. It's chunking thru a bunch of the gears.
So I want to swap out the tranny and replace it with a TII tranny.
I have:
-The tranny
-and will soon be getting the TII diff from friend
What else do I need?
I need a TII tranny clutch dont I? but the slave cylinders are the same.
I know I need a TII driveshaft.
the half axles
hubs
Is there anything else I am missing? Will the TII tranny just bolt onto the crossmember too?
Thanks for any help.

crossmembers are the same.......
you'll need
-tII slave cylinder
-tranny
tII flywheel & clutch kit (not quite sure how that works, i think you'll need an s4 t2 flywheel, cant use a s5 due to it being lighter than an s4, and thus throwing the motor off balance, but thats not certain)
driveshaft
diff and halfshafts
and to my knowledge, thats it

or take a grinding wheel to the end of your NA slave just take off a 1/4 or so until it works. Vipers is right if your S4 stick with s4 TII flywheel. If you go aftermarket flywheel then you need an automatic counterbalance.

Awesome! no modifications to the crossmember.
TII drivetrain here I come!
PS-if anyone has any 5 lug hubs, I would be ECSTATIC to buy them off of you.

You'll still need the flywheel/clutch. look in that thread you'll see that the N/A flywheel is smaller than the T2 one. If you try to use a N/A one, i don't think the starter will catch the N/A flywheel starter gears becasue of the smaller diameter.
blackfcTII, I'm not sure how you pulled it off. the N/A one mounts farther back so you "should" be over extending the piston so it unseats itself when you are fully depressing the clutch. can you get a pic with your clutch fully depressed?

edit: are you sure the slave wasn't already on the tranny when you picked it up? because otherwise there would be no reason to disconnect the hydraulics on it....if you used the N/A slave you would have unbolted it from the N/A tranny and bolted it to the TII one (only to discover the difference)

I'll take some pics and show ya, to go even further in depth my car is a S5, the slave cylinder is off a S4, and now I've put in the TII engine and tranny (all S5) and no one ever said I had to change the slave cylinder so I didn't and it worked just fine till I blew my engine LOL, sucks

Ah hah, I see. Well in all my wisdom (NOT!!!!!) I was talking about the wrong part LOL, I gotta stop posting on these threads. My TII tranny already had that part. I thought the slave cylinder was the part that bolts to the fire wall. Oh man, live and learn I guess

Yep, T2 slave has the mounting bolts in a different spot on the cylinder. Also no one has mentioned that you also need a starter from a T2 or an auto trans car. It mounts differently on the bellhousing. This is THE time to go light flywheel if you want one. They come with the proper counterweight for you car so you don't have to mess with the counterweight stuff.
