PA Convertible Top Replacement and Headrest Speakers

Hey everyone...

I'm completely new to the world of RX-7's and very excited. I'm getting mine this weekend: 88' Black Convertible (non-turbo) 136,000 miles.

I'm planning to replace the convertible top since it has two rips. Has anyone had any experience replacing one. If so, any advice? Was it difficult? Where was the top purchased?

The headrest speakers are also not working...can anyone point me to where I can get a pair?

Thanks a lot!

There are several companies that make replacement tops for our Verts. But trust me when I say ONLY have it replaced with one made by Robbins Auto Top Company (Oxnard, CA, US). Costs a little more, but absolutley worth it.

Use your local upholstery shop to install it.

Headrest speakers, never ever have seen one much less two fail. Your problem is more likely in the amp (next to the spair tire) or controller in the center console.

I agree the previous owner on my vert just had it replaced right before purchased her. Compared to other verts that i have seen in person, theirs are the best.

I got the AA Bestco top I believe, the fitment is off near the doors, its rather strange. I wasn't happy with it at all. I'm going to get another top for mine and redo it, it needs it.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I'll definitely check them out. Do they have a website?

Do you have an aftermarket deck?

"Do you have an aftermarket deck?"

I was wondering the same thing.

One of my Verts came with an aftermarket head unit. I wired up the headrest speakers via a simple after market amp for an aftermarket deck pretty much using the wiring already in place. Wasn't that hard using the Factory Manual's wiring diagrams and a plug cut from a loom off a junk yard 7.

I just helped my cousin with his vert top and we didn't really have any problems, except for we broke the 4 bolts that hold the "support bar" i don't know what you want to call it. but good luck.
