Convertible top problem

Brothers with Vankels help!

I have a RX7 92 FC turbo convertible. The car is working fine exept the following annoying problem:

Before two days, we had here at Greece some nice weather and I tried to open the top. At first, the mechanism didnt seem to work. I mean, it didnt move at all the top, and there was no beeping sound. After I tried two-three times, the top finally opened. I want to say btw that when I tried to close the top, (even when it was closed- careful, I didnt streach it) the beeper came off, and it always worked- at closing fase, I repeat. I didnt give too much attention, as the top seemed to work fine with no further problems. I mean I test it, I open- closed it a few times, and it was working fine.
Today, I tried to open again the top. It didnt work. But the "close" command seems to work fine, since (although the top is closed) I hear the beeper come off and the motor trying to close the closed top.

What is the problem? Any thoughts? In few words, the top is closing, but its not opening. When press the switch to open, there is no sound, no nothing. When I press the switch to close, its working fine (or seems to work fine).

Any ideas? help!

Thank you

sounds like a bad top switch...

but also double check the hand/parking brake is on when trying to move the top.
