convertibe rear window
This past winter's terrific snows(at least on the east coast) caused a portable shelter to collapse over onto the '91 convertible.
It took almost a month for the snow to melt enough to remove the collapsed shelter. When I got it off I saw the tarp over the '91 was sunken in.
To my dismay, I found the rear window busted into little chunks all over the rear shelf. I do not even like to consider how much melted snow got into car. I am in the process of drying it out now.
I can find some sources for replacement tops(which I also need) but all say to re-use existing glass. I have not been able to locate a source for the rear window glass.
Does anyone know where the rear glass can be obtained?
Also can anyone recommend a replacement top?
Thanks,
91 convert

I have a rear vert glass left over from a top swap. Includes the frame.
$50 plus packing (most important it's professionally done) and shipping (glass is heavy). Need to do the deal ASAP, as I'm about to leave on a trip and won't be back for at least a month or two.

hey, one suggestion i would give is try the junkyards. you can probably find a window there. as for the top they might be pretty bad at the yard but you never know. one of my friends in woodbridge bought a brand new top for his vert, put it on him self, then decided not to drive the car. he now uses the vert for parts, if your interested i can contact him and see if he is willing to sell you the top. he has a username on this webside but rarely logs on. his username is "rx72fast4u"

Hey Unren,
Do you happen to have an e-mail for 'rx72fast4u' ? If he has the top he may also have the window.
Getting stuff from woodbridge means I could pick it up saving packing and shipping.
feel free to PM me with any information.
Thanks,

That would be a better solution for sure. BUT, I'm out of here after Monday. So if you want my rear window you need to confirm by tomorrow as I have no time to run around to get shipping costs estimates after then. I'm gone after that for I don't know how long.

Hey HOZZMAN,
Did you get a chance to check on the shipping - packing?
When you leave town, If you are going from west to east and driving and have room - perhaps you can take it with you and ship it from the out of town location. I know that is a lot of 'ifs' and I only assume shipping is based upon distance.

Just got back from the UPS store.
Packing, because it's glass, is about $50. And shipping, because glass is heavy, is another $50. So $100 to ship it secure.

Well in the interim, I bought a piece of Plexiglas, cut it into the approximate shape of the rear window and installed it in the opening.
It took 3 trys of "roping it in" but I got it. It should be good practice for when I get a replacement.
Not sure if it will hold out the weather, but it is tight and at least it will keep the critters out.
I have a lot of work to do on the poor car. This is just one of many tasks.
Thanks,
